Boarded Up Shops
STOP THE ROT!
Empty shops
This is the view currently faced by visitors as they enter Hillsborough on the Supertram. The shops on the left have been boarded up for years now and we are FED UP with this eye-sore bringing down what is otherwise a vibrant and diverse shopping district. The rot is slowly setting in with empty shops creeping away from the corner.

Hillsborough Resident's Association have been putting pressure on Sheffield City Council to step in and demand that the landlords "put their house in order". You can do your bit by adding your voice to our concerns, simply e mail planning: planning@sheffield.gov.uk. telephone : (0114) 2734215 or better still contact your local councillor and demand some action. See our Links page for e mail addresses.

TRAFFIC CHAOS!
Traffic chaos
Rush hours around Hillsborough can be a real nightmare. Hillsborough Corner has not only to deal with all the traffic heading to and from Stannington and beyond, but also has to cope with Supertram. Add in a variety of poorly sited pedestrian crossings and we have real problems. Residents not only complain about the congestion but also the difficulties in finding safe parking when they finally arrive home. What we need is a fresh look at Hillsborough and an considered and integrated strategy to make the place more pedestrian friendly, safer and less of a bind for motorists.
Hillsborough Resident's Association have invited Sheffield City Council to the next meeting on the 7th June, come along and voice you concerns!

VERY LOCAL ISSUES

Broken down fence
As well as dealing with big issues like traffic and parking, Hillsborough Resident's Association is keen to tackle the little things which can have such a big impact on local life. The broken down fence at Hillsborough Arena is not only an eye-sore but is attracting fly tipping and anti social behaviour. Hillsborough Resident's Association had a site meeting and conducted a survey of residents to find the best way forward for managing the area. Hillsborough Arena have now agreed to move the fence to a more logical place and to manage and maintain the additional land.
  Conker tree
Beautiful though this Horse Chestnut tree may be, it is causing real problems for the residents in its shadow. The tree is so neglected that it has grown right over the neighbouring gardens bringing sap and debris and posing a real danger to anyone sitting in the garden. Local youths are also attracted to the tree for conkers and have already smashed a conservatory roof whilst throwing sticks into the tree. Hillsborough Resident's Association are putting pressure on the Hillsborough Arena to bring in a tree surgeon and give the tree a long overdue pruning.
Rubbish
Rubbish and fly tipping are thankfully rare in Hillsborough but if left unchecked these piles were bound to grow. Hillsborough Resident's secured the help of the local Youth Offender Programme to shift this lot!
